This book is such a cool concept book that would make a perfect gift for a budding geologist or world explorer.  The book has a rhyming story that can be read alone or you can discover more about the different ecosystems around the globe and the plants and animals that occupy them with the accompanying text on each page. As an added surprise element the book unfolds to create a globe that could be displayed in a child's room or in a classroom. I think this would make a great baby shower book or first birthday present. It is very visually appealing with great illustrations and a sweet story as well.

This is a sweet and soothing story for anyone who has ever experienced big feelings. Observant readers will immediately recognize the main character's mood in the beginning as it rains literally and figuratively. As the story progresses her mood remains dark until she discovers a dog. Befriending the dog allows sunshine back into the young girl's life as she discovers feelings can be like seasons: they come and go, but they are constantly changing. The colors are muted and the illustrations beautifully match the emotional journey the main character goes on. This is a great book to develop social, emotional skills and provides children with language and pictures to describe what they are feeling. This is Bianca Pozzi's first children's book and I hope not her last!

I adore The Wild Robot and recommend it whole heartedly to anyone who enjoys a great story set in the great outdoors and full of a lot love. The story follows Roz as she lands on a strange island that she must learn to adapt to for her own survival. Through a lot of trial and error Roz eventually learns to not only survive, but thrive. Her kind nature and resourcefulness eventually wear down not only the island animals defenses, but the readers as well. You will be surprised by the strong emotional connection with an electronic character you develop. I'd read this aloud to children under the age of 8 and encourage 8+ to read it themselves. However, I think this book deserves to be read by children and adults alike. I've even used this book for a second grade book club (appropriate for both boys and girls). Roz's adventures continue in The Wild Robot Escapes and the forthcoming book The Wild Robot Protects (Fall '23)
