A story of vengeance: This is a riveting, extraordinary story of a particularly vengeful tiger in a remote Russiaon province near China; an environmental study; full of history of eastern Russia and the people that barely survive in a very harsh and unforgiving part of the world; a tale of co-existence between man and animal; a mystery and an adventure story. This is one of my best reads in a long time. Magnificent and incredible; you will never see tigers in the same light again. 5 stars!!
Based on actual events, the story of a pygmy's capture and slavery in America. His escape and encounters with Indians and escaped slaves is a fascinating and violent epic. A quick and interesting read.
This is not just another Vietnam book--no, this is a great novel that truly captures "it"--he knows of what he speaks. Incredibly intense combat scenes, well-developed characters, authentic and real and gut wrenching--you will not forget it. It's the real deal! Plus, I am a Marine Corps Vietnam vet and I say read it!!
OK--The Road won a Pulitzer and Oprah picked it, but this is better. Oops, I meant more violent with better characters and just a better story. Great!
Stark, forceful yet sad and tragic in its portrayal of just what has really happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hard to put down, thriller like, you can not wait to see what will happen next. Incredible insight into how America is really perceived by the Iraqi people and how this war had affected them. You will not forget it.
