It's now more than a decade since I sent off my final report and closed the door to my office on Bangkok's popular Sukhumvit soi or minor road number four. It signalled an end of an era hanging around Go Go bars watching scantily clad dancers or many of Sin Cities notorious pick-up joints to see if someone's intended bride was behaving themselves. I can add for the benefit of any future would-be Bangkok based detectives, those entertaining activities were more than countered by mundane tasks such as spending countless hours in humid conditions watching apartments for the more often than not non-arrival of a person of interest. I would actually suffer far worse than that over the years. Being shot at, beaten up, death threats to me and my family and even incarcerated on a trumped up charge were fates I would endure while carrying out my detecting services.
