Event date:
Sunday, November 4, 2012 - 4:00pm
2720 Frankfort Avenue
40206 Louisville
On Sunday, November 4th at 4 PM, Carmichael's welcomes author Nora Rose Moosnick for a reading from and signing of her new book Arab and Jewish Women in Kentucky : Stories of Accommodation and Audacity. The stories of ten women’s experiences as immigrants or the children of immigrants join around common themes of public service to their communities, inter-generational relationships, running small businesses, and the difficulties of juggling family and work. Together, their compelling narratives challenge misconceptions and overcome the invisibility of Arabs and Jews in out of the way places in America.

This event is co-sponsored by our friends at Interfaith Paths to Peace. Please join us for this special event!

Some Americans continue to perceive Arab and Jewish immigrants and their descendants as outsiders-outsiders who belong to two distinct groups with a historically adversarial relationship to each other. What happens, though, when Arabs and Jews find themselves in a place such as Kentucky, separated from communities in their home countries or big American cities?
